Pro-Tips to Generate Shockingly Accurate AI Models

You want to make realistic images using DeepMode. You want it to be shockingly accurate and 100% versatile so you can have full control over your AI model while also getting great results.

But what does great output require?

Great input.

A big part of input is your prompt—and we’ve talked a lot about prompt engineering for DeepMode. (For writing better prompts, check out this and definitely this.) 

The other half of the equation is the photos you use to generate your AI model. DeepMode trains on this information, so getting it as effective as possible is key to making your results unbelievably good. 

We’ve gone over this in our API and guide for training models. But now it’s time to go into the pro-tips. These will get you the very best results possible.

Let’s dive into how to do this.

Consistent Lighting

Lighting, especially dramatic lighting, can obscure detail. Both shadows and highlights run the risk of losing information for the AI to train on. So, for best results, choose photos with consistent lighting.

Natural lighting can be good, but you want to avoid harsh sunlight. This cuts strong shadows and can distort your AI model. 

Multiple Expressions

DeepMode can extrapolate a scary amount of information from a single pose, using that to generate a full range of angles with fidelity. But you can make the results even better by using multiple expressions in the selection of photos you input.

This is especially true if you have photos that capture the exact kind of expression you want to see in your AI model.

Neutral Background

You already know to avoid things like sunglasses and other people in the photos, but you can also improve results if the background is plain and simple. A clutter-free, neutral background helps the AI focus on the main subject without distractions.

Anything you can do to simplify the model understanding is a step in the right direction. And backgrounds are often too cluttered for exceptional AI model-making.

Don’t Be Afraid to Edit

If you have a lot of photos that are almost perfect, but not quite, maybe its time to fire up an image editor and touch it up. While it takes a little bit of skill, many people have the ability to do minor touch-ups with Photoshop, Canva, or GIMP. 

Getting the correct edits can make a difference, but the key is balance. Over-editing runs its own risks, so be mindful of the impact you are making on the image.
